Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH)
Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH) is a parastatal organization with the responsibility of co-ordinating and promoting research and technology development activities in Tanzania. It is the chief advisor to the Government of Tanzania on all matters pertaining to science and technology and their application to the socio-economic development of the country. COSTECH assisted ARTI Tanzania with funding for a pilot project at Azania Secondary School in Dar es Salaam to promote Compact Biogas Systems (CBS) at the institutional level. COSTECH also sponsored a Training of Trainers (TOT) on CBS and charcoal briquetting technologies as well research on CBS performance (feeding, gas production and feeding) at Azania Secondary School. In 2008, COSTECH awarded ARTI-TZ with the Award for Science and Technology for introducing the Compact Biogas System to Tanzania. For more information about COSTECH, please visit www.costech.or.tz.
Tanzania Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism (MNRT)
Tanzania Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism (MNRT) through the Bee Keeping and Forestry Division, has supported ARTI-Tanzania since 2007 by providing logistical assistance and space at high profile events, such as the Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) and Nane Nane in Dodoma. This has helped ARTI-TZ to educate citizens about ARTI technologies. Currently the MNRT is providing logistical support to assist ARTI in the implementation of charcoal briquette training in Bagamoyo, Kibaha, Kisararwe and Mkuranga Districts funded by the World Bank’s Biomass Energy Initiative for Africa (BEIA). The Rural Energy Agency (REA)
The Rural Energy Agency (REA) of the Tanzania Ministry of Energy and Minerals continues to work with ARTI Tanzania in the promotion of ARTI technologies to Tanzanians. The most recent support comes through the Lighting Africa project with funds from the World Banks Lighting Africa Programme. ARTI has received funding for the promotion of solar lights in Bagamoyo District through the “Mauli Kauli” Credit System.
